The apostle Paul makes this position very clear by emphasis. In the first chapter of his first book the first teaching on personal conduct is that a man or woman laying with the same is sin.
Emphasis and context is everything in scripture. Having said that, Christians should deal with homosexuality in a spirit of love rather than condemnation but should remain firm in their opposition to it.

Now with regard to government grants and such. God created government. There is no need to be so afraid when we have the checks and balances that our government provides. What we should be concerned about is the mishandling of govenment by staffing it with incompetent anti-government ideologues that are afraid of it's proper efficient function. God did not create govenment to run any other way and with the complexity of society there must be the interjection of government in order for society to run properly. As Christians we should not be afraid of something that God created and what we need to do is to take it back from the rich and powerful that would abuse it for their own ends disregarding the poor and needy. I believe the rightwings strong opposition to healthcare reform is a clear manifestation of this. Govenment should be as correct before God as is possible and as righteous as is possible. History has shown us that the poor and disadvantaged cannot depend on individual volunteerism from the people. To work effectively it must be concerted with an organizing entity. That entity is government. Use it, don't be afraid of it.
In the millenium I'am sure individual volunteerism will be the standard maybe because they will all give individually or because they will all give freely to the government directly under Jesus but today in this world we as Christains should show the world our love by supporting programs that help the needy. The world has never seen a government with such checks and balances on power. Only the rightwing in service to the rich and powerful demoan and demonize government because government will discipline their lust for more and more.
Follow the money trail and things will become clear. Jesus's teachings on money and the rich require courage to embrace in this society.
Let's be courageous Christians not fearful Christians.

Again, thanks for your comment Norma!Doughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14936708022015516483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13398193.post-73983292132340388862010-09-29T09:20:44.391-07:002010-09-29T09:20:44.391-07:00Thanks for commenting.
What ever Rush calls himse...Thanks for commenting.

What ever Rush calls himself I would say a Republican by any other name is still a Republican.

For the religious right it is America right or wrong, their politics evidently right or wrong. The religious left is clearly not bound up in this kind of spiritual national pride.
As for my Christian position I consider it Christian center but because of the religious right I don't mind being called Christian left. I certainly have been called religious right by the left so....as long as Iam called Christian that is the first thing. It is the Kingdom of God first then my family and then perhaps country if it falls in line with scripture. There are Christians all over the earth and they and we are part of the true nation, the kingdom of God. This is the reality not the religious something or other and we should believe and behave so.

Again thanks for the commentDoughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14936708022015516483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13398193.post-39500482216185384352010-09-26T12:04:39.511-07:002010-09-26T12:04:39.511-07:00When has the religious left ever admitted to a mis...When has the religious left ever admitted to a mistake or misleading the people about the gospel? Beck talks a lot about religion, he is a libertarian, and Rush almost never, and I think he is a Republican. All Christians seem to cherry pick their way through Scripture, chosing gay marriage for pastors, and deleting all personal pronouns from the Godhead, or thinking government grants to do what Jesus said is just fine and dandy (both right and left do this, which is a huge puzzle to me.)Normahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11502895616873273470noreply@blogger.com
