The authors in the beginning knew the best way to keep extending the Patriot Act was to give it this name so that Senators and Congressman would fear being labeled less American for voting against a such named act and it works in spades for the majority that have little backbone. Every now and then a senator comes along that stands for principle regardless of possible perceptions. That Senator at this moment and this time happens to be Rand Paul.
