Donald Trump has spent his entire campaign and now presidency stoking worries about the "them' - terrorists, immigrants,foreigners, Muslims you name it. He has fanned the flames of fear over and over again but what the man needs is a Reichstag fire, a Tonkin Gulf incident, a 9-11. George W. Bush was a frequently protested minimal poorly regarded president until you were compelled to rally behind him in the aftermath of 9-11.
That kind of event you must surely know is exactly what Donald Trump needs now or at least very soon. It would be the greatest gift he could receive because right now he is in about the same boat as George W. was except that Trump is falling even faster from his lowest of all time early presidential approval rating. Just as with Bush 43, protesters are in the streets and the masses are mobilizing to oppose Trump at every turn.
So, knowing his appeal has come from igniting fear of the "them" out there and not YET getting his 9-11 to cause the masses to rally behind him Trump is now crying that the media have been holding back on reporting terrorist incidents. In other words he is crying that the media have not been giving him enough pliable citizens manipulated by fear of terrorists.
Haven't we given up enough potential future tyranny to the growing surveillance state already?
If the media have in fact done anything good recently it would be that they have not sensationalized terrorists acts that would only motivate a public to react with fear and accept unnecessary draconian solutions.
Keeping fear down is one of the greatest feats a good leader can accomplish but don't even try to tell that to the manipulating seller of fear. Trump is pathetically crying that the public is not being manipulated enough. He wants us manipulated enough to accept his instruments of fear - a wall, a ban on Muslims, a ban on immigrants so that all the while he can pass, along with cronies of Wall Street, laws and rules and executive orders so very favorable to Wall Street and the monied interests.
Why would Trump otherwise complain about a lack of reporting terrorist attacks. I mean it seems like such a childish stumble into revealing he is not getting what he wants - to be able to manipulate Americans with fear. He wants the media to scare people into accepting his fear motivated agenda and it's like he doesn't even realize he's revealing his motive.
It is stupid beyond stupid.
Who are these people we have elected anyway? Whew!
