As in the song "Lawyers In Love" we have a land, a nation with too many in high places willing to do anything for money neglecting people, honor and principle but a change is coming. No more falling for the lie of living only individualistic and independent lives leaving us divided and conquerable by powerful special interests but a people, a nation collaborating for the greater common good in various groups all across the nation. A land of people working together to help one another with a vision moreover as Jesus would have us be. Love, Mercy, Forgiveness, Kindness....something about another Land. The change is coming

The Fake Donald Trump Speaks To Congress

First of all this is the fake Donald Trump. The speech last night you heard before Congress is not the real Trump but a modified perfunctory monotone-like performance trying to sound presidential and schmooze the public. Emphasize "trying to sound presidential". This is the con-man, shyster, hustler pushing his scam even further. Any allusion to a populist hero for the working class, draining the swamp or returning power to the people is so very fake. On all these points and promises Trump is fully fake and all he has done so far has proven the fake but even more offensive is the fact that these are the points and promises that made the difference, that won him the election.
He would like you to think he is breaking with Republican ideology and going populist on these points but he is not and that is the heinous on going scam. He is fully standard right-wing and relative to his promises to the working class he is thoroughly fake.

Should I give him credit for toning it down in this speech, maybe, but why even go there after all that has passed. In the speech he passed on attacking the news media but all that he has done has been a betrayal to his promise of putting working people over as he called it "the corrupt money of Wall Street" and draining the swamp. That is why his remark about draining the swamp got the most groans from Democrats and Independents. Had I been there I would have booed him off the stage for even going anywhere near "drain the swamp" after all the betrayal we have seen but the Democrats surely restrained themselves. Whew!!
And the Fox news bubble world wants to call his speech a home-run but can it possibly be a home-run when, as you saw during the camera panning across the hall, half of the congress rarely ever applauding or standing, well maybe when you wear the Fox news 3-D rose colored glasses standing in the basement of so very low expectations.

Unseemly would be the nice word for coming out and refusing to take responsibility for the Yemen raid by blaming the military and then the next evening milking Ryan Owens death and his wife's grief and loss for all he could get after Ryan Owens father criticized Trump even refusing to meet or shake his hand. Trump shafted the military and Owen's father but Trump got what he needed out of it.
John F. Kennedy took responsibility for authorizing the Bay of Pigs and Carter for the Iran raid but Trump? Not Trump.
There are words but they won't be used here.

Having covered that sewage and said all that, Trump seems to pursue the one promise he made about trade tariffs and fair over free trade but with all the lies so far can you even lean on it?
I know all Americans have had it with globalization to the extreme it was taken. There were clearly too many incentives and too little rules on what corporations could do overseas relative to exploiting their position in those countries. The bottom line being; if the presence of our corporations in third world countries does not raise a country's standard of living then all that is happening is the padding of corporate profits and little expansion of the global consumer base which is and was supposed to be the over-arching purpose of globalization(allowing corporations to move overseas in order to expand the number of consumers for products worldwide).
Trump can talk all he wants about tariffs but if he is not pushing restrictions on the companies already overseas then his plan is not nearly comprehensive enough and so, unrealistic. He has got to be speaking to the WTO and working that angle but he is not because he is adverse to working "globally". He has never even mentioned it and he knows all those companies that moved overseas are not coming back without disincentives there and incentives here. Some, maybe, but not nearly all. In any event cutting corporate taxes, regulations and embracing Wall Street a la W. Bush is failed policy and not an answer.

Immigration? The unnecessary freak-out on immigration continues fanning the fear of "the them",foreigners, imagined invaders, whatever. It seemed almost a quarter of the speech alluded to immigration and make no mistake in the Trumpian world you make the people support you by making them afraid of the outsiders and so it goes on and on.

Overall the speech changes nothing except the notion that on occasion Trump may be able to restrain himself, speak low-ball presidential and that is applying of course a grade on the curve under a low bar.
