The Burning Flag.....
It is an idol. It has become an idol before God. It burns now with the fervent misguidance and deception of a religious heirarchy hijacked by very wealthy political influence. As in the movie Patton, the flag is stretched across the stage of churches around the country while the congregations of christians stand before it as if to worship this image of the U.S. and the words come off the lips of so many religious leaders invoking the will of God to be in accord with a first strike, unprovoked attack upon a small nation out of the fear of what it MIGHT have done as they fervently call this action protection from God.
And oh yes they pray and talk of thanks to the military and pray for them but find no time to pray for the Iraqi's or even mention the children and families that need prayer in Iraq. They withhold prayer not for a country that attacked or persecuted us but they withhold it from a country that we attacked. Jesus said Love your enemies and pray for those that persecute you.
What a pathetic state of spirit the church is in now. Because of fervent fear of appearing unpatriotic the church cannot bring itself to pray for those it attacked, killed and maimed let alone pray for those who would attack us. Will they begin to pray for Iraqi children? They could have prayed for them when it was needed most, saving innocent lives as the war was in full swing, but then that would have been unpatriotic and unamerican.
A sick patriotic cowardly spirit binds the church and it may as well be worshipping the flag because the "love" they show now gains them nothing.
