It is unfortuante that some Christians have become so blindly loyal to Bush. If it is because their church leaders say so that is not good enough. Down through history, in the Bible and in Revelations, Jesus admonished the church such as in the case of the church of Laodicea, Smyrna, etc. Churches have fallen into error many times so it is not unreasonable that this is going on now and, it seems, the only reasonable conclusion that one can reach today is that it is, again, going on now.
If church congregations can be in error on fundamental things as the Lord said, then they certainly can be in error where politics and government are concerned. Christians were slow to wake up to the truth about slavery and racial predudice because they could not humble themselves and admit they were wrong and they are slow to wake up to being tragically wrong about Bush and Iraq. The problem is many Christians often get overly involved, emotionally, on issues instead of being firmly grounded in the Spirit of God. They succumb to a fervent emotional patriotism of the flesh that superceds their leading from God and it is because they are not grounded in the Spirit as they should be. The materialistic fleshly way of life today, especially in America, has put downward pressure against living a truly spritual life. It is a consequence of life in America and it blurs keen sensitivity to the Spirit. Essentially the church has been seduced by this and finds itself unable to truly lead so it follows it's host country putting the country first rather than second to God trying to protect the nation structure around them that provides their material things rather than first protecting and standing up for the teachings of the one God, who truly provides all they have.
You have too many church leaders gorging themselves on fatty steaks, driving Mercedes and preaching boastful prosperity.
We should uphold God's standards whether they are difficult to live by or not.
