A Christian Political Platform
- The church should be against abortion and that means to ban it, except of course where the life of the mother is concerned.
-The church should be at the forefront of support for elimination of child slave trafficking and at the same time strongly resisting the surrender to the efficiency of facist policy in order to accomplish it. Emotional issues such as this will be used by those who wittingly and unwittingly would throw us into some kind of emerging police state and the church must oppose this answer with every effort. We cannot let the concern for our children be used as a emotional guilt leverage to make acceptable the planting of gps chips in our young at birth or the introduction of lifetime trackable nano-particles into their blood. This will be a dual battle.
- The church should oppose homosexuality as a lifestyle and should not condone any form of it and that also means so-called gay civil unions. It should wholly accept all those who are willing to turn from and renounce it as sinful. The Love of Christ in the church should show no prejudice against those who have turned from it. The church should be especially diligent on this issue as there is an effort to make homosexuality "more" acceptable in a growing number of denominations and it should not let pass during this time of the catholic priest abuse crisis to take an even firmer stand against homosexuality. It is an opportunity to regain ground in this effort.
- The church should support prayer in schools where practical but otherwise should support a quiet time for students to pray or contemplate as they wish. In pluralistic America, others religion must not be run over but rather shown the Love of the Truth.
- The church should support efforts to feed the hungry and homeless here and abroad. It should support government based programs as the faith-based only approach is not enough.
- The church should support efforts to make the wealthy accountable to rules and regulations and it should not find itself favoring continual legislation for the benefit of the wealthy taking the lead from God's concern for justice for the poor and needy in the new and old testament.
- The church should emphasize that excessive profits and greed are not desirable and that a more modest lifestyle is appropriate. A social stigma supported by the church against excessive greed would not be inappropriate. The church should make it clear that being prosperous does not mean being a millionaire nor that ambitious achievement means lust for money. The church should be at the forefront in letting people know it supports this effort toward social justice.
- The church should be foremost in toning down the ideology of unbridled profit making and the corruption of the manipulating influence of money and the church should not be afraid to speak intelligently & streetwise about these matters and not be naive about the power of money in our society. It should be understood that the power of the profit motive will not be deterred in a free market society as ours and will flourish in our society and that if anything the church should try to tone down the effects of money's power rather that cater to it. The church should be wise to anti-taxation efforts at times when it is just a tool of the greedy to get more.
- When the economy prospers and corporations flourish the church should support sharing the wealth with employess in the form of better health benefits or raising wages instead of continually supporting politcians who go to all ends to oppose sharing wealth.
- The church should support and encourage an environment of boldness and courage in the populace so that those in government will not be able to easily manipulate the people using fear mongering techniques relative to national threats or specifically terrorism. The people should understand that there is a much higher chance of involvement in everyday accidents & criminal acts than being involved in a terrorist attack and we should put these things into perspective and stand against the unreasonable increase in surveillence and privacy intrusions in some parts of the Homeland Security Act and especially the Patriot Act, most notably a "Patriot Act II". Those who came before us did not give up their rights because King George threatened to attack us so rather than give up our hard earned rights to now save our lives in fear, we today should adopt the founding fathers fortitude, look to God, strengthen our inner constitution and go forward without fear keeping all these things in perspective.
- The church should oppose war at all costs and if a just war scenario is supported by some in the church it should be only in response to being attacked by someone else which of course does not permit any pre-emptive mind set at all. Can you imagine Jesus's take on this; It's like, don't wait until they slap you so you have to turn the other cheek, slap them so hard the first time that they won't even think of slapping you. It's christianity turned on it's head and the church should have no part in it. It should in fact wholly oppose it and should oppose bringing death and destruction down upon anyone let alone in an unchristian pre-emptive strike. The preservation of America or any country can not be justified by breaking Christ's teachings.
The modern church today in this new testament era is in some ways analogous to Judah and Israel in the old testament. The tribes of Israel had become corrupt with only Judah adherring to God's complete ways. Israel had begun to worship strange idols adopting all manner of heathen practices, accepting homosexuality and in it's corruptive state favoring those with power and influence thereby ignoring the needs of the poor and needy. But Judah stood alone in following God and resisting evil. It rejected corrupt practices, homosexuality and treated it's people justly. Judah did finally compromise and went captive to Babylon and how analogous that is today, but there is a Judah like church out there today, waiting to gather, that believes in all of God's ways. One that is not pro-abortion or pro-homosexual and is not pro-rich or pro-war but is instead, all the right things as it was when Judah found favor with God. Because of political trade offs for power the present church has been unable to bring all these correct positions together in one correct church. The answer to overcoming this is to remember with, confidence in God, what Jesus said about his church:
"the gates of hell shall not prevail against my church."
Matthew: 16:18
As in the song "Lawyers In Love" we have a land, a nation with too many in high places willing to do anything for money neglecting people, honor and principle but a change is coming. No more falling for the lie of living only individualistic and independent lives leaving us divided and conquerable by powerful special interests but a people, a nation collaborating for the greater common good in various groups all across the nation. A land of people working together to help one another with a vision moreover as Jesus would have us be. Love, Mercy, Forgiveness, Kindness....something about another Land. The change is coming
