As in the song "Lawyers In Love" we have a land, a nation with too many in high places willing to do anything for money neglecting people, honor and principle but a change is coming. No more falling for the lie of living only individualistic and independent lives leaving us divided and conquerable by powerful special interests but a people, a nation collaborating for the greater common good in various groups all across the nation. A land of people working together to help one another with a vision moreover as Jesus would have us be. Love, Mercy, Forgiveness, Kindness....something about another Land. The change is coming

You Are Voting On The Entire Gov't, Not Just Two Social Issues

When you vote you are not only voting for one or two moral issues you are voting for an entire government structure involving myriad principles and laws formed in one way or another by our understanding of compassion and justice. At issue in the ballot box is the efficient functioning of one of the greatest governments the world has ever known and especially highlighted right now in the wake of Hurricane Sandy is the necessity and the responsible funding of one of those programs-FEMA.
If you want to base your vote on two moral issues then you should be sure that those votes are treated seriously and not used like a political football to only capture your particular demographic group for political purposes because if your votes are not treated seriously then your vote has been negated and you have been used only as a political pawn.

For instance for many years Democratic politicians promised health insurance for everyone but never really came close to delivering and much of the time just blew it off as they enjoyed health insurance company campaign contributions. On the Republican side  politicians promised to ban abortion and firmly oppose homosexuality but to the Christian, civil unions supported by Republicans amounted to government endorsed homosexuality and in the fully Republican congress with George W. Bush as president no vote was attempted in that congress to ban abortion.

So the Democrats have used their base and likewise with the Republicans. The best way to approach voting is to realize you are voting on an entire government structure which has many issues and angles of which you agree with here and disagree there. You are voting on a structure which effects thousands of people in thousands of different ways. It will never be perfectly customized to any of our views so the most coherent approach is to consider the totality of government and it's performance.

It may be a rush to gather and wave "Don't Tread On Me" flags or 99% banners and pretend that you and others are part of some rebel force battling a demonic evil empire government but this government is legally offered to you to own. Nobody said it would be easy and be sure there are those out there that want it for their own purposes rather than the common good of all but chances are you are one of the 99% and chances are if you find common ground with others in this 99% you will find ways to make the government that you own work for all.

God sees the whole government picture relating to all of society and whether it involves personal decadence, corporate corruption or exploitation of others it all matters to Him. There are matters of personal behavior and their are matters of justice metted out across the board relative to how people are treated by those in authority. From the teachings of Jesus to the books of the prophets to the Torah and the 10 commandments you will find His concern for all of government.

Make no mistake, in a nation inundated by greed and the corruption it breeds there is dire need for oversight of human behavior that is directly or indirectly destructive to others. God is no fool.

Personally I would rather that civility come through the enforcement or "coercion" of logical regulations and laws metting out justice and fairness for all rather than a kind of police state coercion of cameras & drones inevitable in a turbulent society lacking justice and fairness. A people will put up with so much then it's the hard way.

Go vote responsible, vote on all of government.
